This is the single most common surprise for travellers who book any Manuel Antonio tour, on any channel. The park entrance ticket is sold only through the official government system, SINAC’s online ticket portal at serviciosenlinea.sinac.go.cr. It is not sold at the gate. A guide — ours or anyone else’s — cannot sell you a government entrance ticket that is not part of their package, and no marketplace listing changes that rule.
So when you compare a direct price against a platform price, compare the inclusions line, not just the number. A cheaper listing that excludes the entrance is not cheaper once the ticket is added.
No — Manuel Antonio National Park is closed on Tuesdays, so no park tour runs on a Tuesday, whichever channel you book through. In December 2026 those dates are the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th; in January 2027 they are the 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th.

There is a finite number of certified guides working Manuel Antonio, and high-season mornings fill weeks before the ticket portal even opens for those dates.
Waiting for the SINAC window before you reserve a guide is the mistake. Do it in the other order.
Bookings for tours between 15 December and 15 January are not refundable at any time. Outside that window you get a full refund if you cancel 72 hours or more before the tour.
We state it plainly rather than bury it, because the reason is concrete: in those weeks we buy park entrance tickets, boat spaces and ranger permits well in advance, and a seat released at the last minute cannot be resold. The one exception runs in your favour — if conditions on the water, on the mountain road or in the forest become genuinely unsafe, we reschedule or refund you in full, high season included.
The practical difference when you book direct is not a softer policy, it is a shorter line: moving a time or a date is one WhatsApp message to the people who hold your slot, not a support ticket that has to reach the operator through a platform.
Nobody can promise you an animal. Manuel Antonio’s wildlife is resident year-round and wild, so what a guide changes is your odds and how much of what you walk past you actually notice.
Realistically, on a morning walk the species most often found are three-toed and two-toed sloths, white-faced capuchin monkeys, Central American squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, agoutis, iguanas and a long list of birds. Scarlet macaws are occasional rather than dependable in Manuel Antonio, and we will not sell you one. The Fiery-billed Aracari, on the other hand, is a regional specialty that lives here and almost nowhere else in the world.
