About this tour
Carara National Park is world-famous for one bird above all: the scarlet macaw. Sitting on the transition between the dry forests of the north and the rainforests of the south, Carara concentrates a remarkable mix of species – macaws, trogons, motmots, antbirds and toucans – in a single morning of birding.
Your ICT-licensed guide knows every corner of the trails and carries a Swarovski spotting scope, so you take home free 4K photos and videos plus a complete list of every bird seen during the tour. A traditional Costa Rican lunch is included on this full-day adventure.
Carara is a sunrise destination for the scarlet macaws. If you want a second wildlife outing the same trip, the Manuel Antonio night tour covers the nocturnal side of the region – kinkajous, owls and frogs with specialized lighting.

Prices are per person: adults 13+ pay the listed price, children 3–12 pay $10 less on every option (Group Birding $185, Private Birding $210) and infants 0–2 join free. Free cancellation up to 72 hours before the tour. From December 15 to January 15, bookings are non-refundable. Every booking includes a $2 donation per person to Kazan Karate for Kids.

Before you go
After booking you receive a welcome message with your pickup point and time in Quepos, Manuel Antonio or Jacó.
5:00 AM – full day, about 8 hours. Round-trip transport and Carara National Park entrance are included.

Your binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, sunblock, a hat, camera and a reusable water bottle. Binoculars are not included.
