About this tour

Wetlands, rice fields
and the coast in one morning.

Playa del Rey combines marshes, rice fields and coastal habitats – a paradise for kingfishers, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, seedeaters and herons. Because it mixes wetland and open-country species, it is one of the most productive birding spots near Manuel Antonio.

Your ICT-licensed birdwatching guide brings a Swarovski spotting scope so you see every detail and take home free 4K photos and videos, plus a personalized list of every species observed. A traditional Costa Rican breakfast is included.

Playa del Rey birding runs on the morning light. Pair it with the Manuel Antonio night tour for the nocturnal species – kinkajous, owls and frogs – that the same forest hides after dark.
