Being 14 minutes away changes the whole shape of the morning: you sleep until 6:00 a.m. and still walk in with the first guides at 7:00 a.m. The road climbs and winds from Quepos up through the Manuel Antonio strip, it is fully paved, and it is the one stretch that genuinely jams after 8 a.m. in high season — another reason the early slot is worth taking.
Quepos is inside the pick-up zone, so the transport bundled into the Premium Shared All-in ($65) and the V.I.P. Private ($100) covers your hotel here at no extra cost. That is the practical advantage of sleeping in Quepos over Jacó, Dominical or Uvita: from those towns the transfer is a separate quote, from Quepos it is already in the price.
We confirm the exact pick-up time by WhatsApp the evening before, because it depends on where in Quepos you are and how many stops the van has. As a rule it lands between 6:15 and 6:35 a.m. for the 7:00 a.m. opening.
Pick-up between 6:15 and 6:35 a.m., at the gate by 6:45 a.m., inside at 7:00 a.m., guided walk with telescope stops for about three hours, beach time at Playa Manuel Antonio, and back in Quepos before lunch. The Classic Group and Classic Private follow that shape; the V.I.P. Private runs three to four hours and includes a snack and lunch, so it ends mid-afternoon.
Why the 7 a.m. slot and not a comfortable 9 a.m. one: the bus groups arrive between 9:00 and 10:30 a.m., and sloths, capuchins and squirrel monkeys are most active while it is still cool. We do not promise sightings — no honest operator does — but the odds are visibly better before 9 a.m.
All four work, and here is what we will and will not tell you about each. Driving: 14 minutes, paid lots by the entrance road. Taxi: the standard way people who did not rent a car get up there, and your hotel front desk books it in a minute. The local bus: it runs the Quepos–Manuel Antonio road frequently through the day, but we do not print a timetable on this page because it changes and we are not going to publish a departure time we have not verified for your date — ask us on WhatsApp or at your hotel desk.
Walking the 7.1 km is technically possible and we do not recommend it: it is a climbing, winding road with long stretches without a shoulder, in tropical heat, before a three-hour walk in the park. Spend the taxi fare. One more thing to know if you drive: people wave cars down roughly 3 km before the gate claiming to be official parking, and they are not — keep going to the entrance.

Children pay less on every option — $30 becomes $20, $65 becomes $55, $69 becomes $59 and $100 becomes $90, with infants under three free. Those are the figures published on our guided tour page. The $30 Classic Group price has not moved and is not going to.
The entrance ticket is $18.08 per adult, it is sold only by SINAC, and the online window opens roughly two months — about 60 days — before the date you want. That is the whole rule that catches people out: you cannot buy a December ticket in March, and by the time the window opens for a high-season date the good mornings go fast. Opening hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with last entry at 3:00 p.m., taken from the official SINAC page and checked on 25 September 2026. Daily capacity is capped near 2,000 visitors.
