A guide is not a formality in Manuel Antonio. Sloths, night monkeys and vipers sit motionless four metres above the trail and are effectively invisible without a scope. A guide carries the scope and knows where each animal has been resting that week. Wildlife is wild — no one can promise you a specific animal — but the difference in what you are likely to see is the whole reason guides exist here.

The park entrance is a separate government fee of $18.30 per adult and $5.65 per child, sold online only — never at a booth outside the gate. On the Premium and VIP tours that entrance is already inside the price.
Five start times every open day: 7:00 AM · 7:30 AM · 10:00 AM · 12:30 PM · 1:00 PM.
The 7:00 and 7:30 departures are the ones guides prefer. Animals move most in the first hours after sunrise, the trails are coolest, and the park is emptiest. If you are choosing purely on what you are likely to see, take the earliest slot that still lets you have breakfast.
Manuel Antonio’s hotels sit along the single road that runs from Quepos down to the park gate, so you are a short drive from the entrance rather than a day trip away. On Premium and VIP we pick you up at your hotel and bring you back. On the Classic Group ($30) and Classic Private ($69) tours you meet us at the park entrance — tell us your hotel on WhatsApp and we will send the meeting point and the walking or taxi time from your door.

Manuel Antonio National Park closes every Tuesday. Between December 2026 and January 2027 that is nine closed days:
December 2026: Tuesday 1, Tuesday 8, Tuesday 15, Tuesday 22, Tuesday 29.
January 2027: Tuesday 5, Tuesday 12, Tuesday 19, Tuesday 26.
If your only free morning falls on a Tuesday, tell us — the mangrove boat tour at Damas and the night tour both run on days the park is shut, and they see different wildlife entirely.
The park caps daily visitors and tickets are sold online in advance, so the morning slots in high season are the first to disappear. Booking the night before usually works outside peak weeks; between 15 December and 15 January it often does not. If you already know your date, send it now and hold the slot.
Tours run in the rain. Wildlife does not shelter from it, and the forest is often more active during and after a shower — bring a light rain jacket rather than an umbrella. If the park itself closes for extreme weather, your tour is rescheduled at no cost.
Cancellation is free up to 72 hours before your start time. Bookings for 15 December to 15 January are non-refundable, because those dates are held exclusively for you at the busiest point of the year.
