Short answer

If you have one day or less in the area, go to Manuel Antonio. If you have a full day to give and want the wildest, most remote rainforest in Costa Rica, go to Corcovado. Many travelers do both on the same trip — they’re different experiences, not competitors.

Manuel Antonio National Park

Small, coastal, and close to town — most visitors reach the entrance in 10–20 minutes from Quepos or Manuel Antonio hotels. It’s a half-day visit: rainforest trail, beach, and a strong chance of seeing sloths, monkeys and iguanas close to the path.

  • Best for: first-time visitors, families, short stays, cruise stopovers, anyone without a full day to spare.
  • Starting price: Manuel Antonio National Park Classic Group Tour — $30 per person, certified naturalist guide and professional optics included.
  • Travel time from Quepos/Manuel Antonio: under 30 minutes.

Corcovado National Park

Remote and vast — part of the Osa Peninsula, a full-day expedition with door-to-door transport from Quepos, Manuel Antonio, Dominical or Uvita. National Geographic has called it "the most biologically intense place on Earth." Visits go to one of two ranger stations, Sirena or San Pedrillo, both reachable only with a certified guide.

  • Best for: serious wildlife watchers, travelers with a full day free, anyone who wants primary rainforest and the highest wildlife density in Costa Rica.
  • Starting price: Corcovado San Pedrillo Group Expedition — $250 per person (minimum 5 people), or Corcovado Sirena Group Expedition — $255 per person (minimum 5 people). Private departures also available from $375 per person.
  • Travel time from Quepos/Manuel Antonio: a full day, transport included in the tour.

Can you do both?

Yes — plenty of guests book Manuel Antonio early in their trip and add Corcovado as a full-day expedition later in the same week. If you’re only deciding between the two for a single day, use the short answer above.
